The problem with network marketing is that it is a marketing business being pursued mostly by people who know almost nothing about marketing. These well intentioned folks were most likely recruited by a person who also knows very little about marketing. That is a big problem because today over 150,000 Americans join network marketing programs every month. Less than 5% of these people make good incomes and over 95% have no real success. But there is hope. Network marketing can be surprisingly simple when done correctly. There is no reason why the overwhelming majority of people who join a good MLM program should not be able to achieve financial success. It takes dedication and commitment to be successful just like in any other business venture. But in addition, it requires a good marketing strategy that can be easily duplicated by the people you recruit. Often people in MLM are recruited by a friend who piques your interest and gets you excited about visions of big paychecks. But instead of being swept up in your friends excitement, you should be asking questions about the marketing. You must ask questions about how your friend finds people to recruit. Ask if there is there a lead program or a marketing plan to help you find not only new recruits but customers for the products too. You should ask these questions before you start talking about the products or the marketing plan. The only way to achieve true success in network marketing is to have a marketing plan that can be easily duplicated by both you and by your downline. Otherwise you tend to work your warm market of friends and relatives and then end up in the 95% who do not succeed. Always remember that if the people you recruit have no success recruiting, you will end up with nothing more than a sign up commission and not much else. There are some companies out there that have terrific marketing programs and those are the type of companies that you should be looking for. There are also leaders in many networking marketing programs that have developed their own marketing programs and these are the team leaders that you need to be working with. Just make sure that you understand the marketing plan and make sure the marketing plan is one that you can easily duplicate. MLM can be surprisingly simple. We all have read that the concept of network marketing is endorsed by people like Donald Trump and Robert Kiyosaki. But there seems to be only a handful of top producers in every organization who always make the big money. They are not smarter than you. But they do know how to work the system properly and, most importantly, they know how to properly market their opportunity. Robert Kiyosaki, the best selling author of Rich Dad, Poor Dad says: The number one reason I recommend a network marketing business is for its system of education. Some of the more important real-life business subjects that network marketing companies teach include: An attitude of success; leadership skills; communication skills; people skills; overcoming personal fears, doubts and lack of confidence; overcoming fear of rejection; money management skills; investing skills; accountability skills; time management skills; goal setting; systemization. This endorsement of networking marketing by the highly respected Robert Kiyosaki is great but there is one thing missing and it happens to be the most important thing. Robert Kiyosakis comments are true but most network marketing companies unfortunately come up short when it comes to providing their recruits with a marketing system. Successfully marketing your opportunity involves more than putting up a pay-per-click ad. You have to use techniques that professional marketers use in order to succeed. It's not rocket science, but most people need a good coach to show them how to do it. Just like the best athletes in the world use good coaches to stay on top of their games, so do network marketing people. I will talk more about specific marketing techniques in upcoming articles, but you can start by asking the people that are trying to recruit you about what techniques they use to market their opportunity and how they suggest that you market the opportunity, if you join. If they tell you to make a list of 100 people that you know, your best bet is to keep looking. In the meantime, ask a bunch of questions about the marketing.
