By: Jim Brown

Taking up a sport and being fashionable while playing it is very easy. What with all the vast array of sports wear available. However, if you just very recently decided to take up a sport, then you should know that there are a lot of restrictions in sports wear depending on what kind of sport you are playing. Golfers, for instance have a dress code. The more exclusive the club, the more strict the dress code is. So, if you are thinking of playing golf, read on for a list of what to stock up on.

Golf Wear

Anything collared is a must. Polo shirts that are very comfortable and have a good fit on you should do the trick. There is a wide array of polo shirts that have been infused with technology. Get all available colors. Look for ones that come in vibrant colors and prints. Don't go too wild, though. Try adding a vest on top of the polo. A tank top is a no-no. Depending on your height, you could try browsing in the kids section. They would fit you better. Plus, there will be a lot of fancy choices without making you look tacky.

You are not allowed to wear jeans. Cut down your choices into just casual slacks, khakis and shorts. As for the ladies, Bermuda shorts are the way to go. You could try color blocks but make sure they still look formal such as neutral colors. Look for printed shorts or skirts like checkered or plaid. Just make sure that the skirt or short is not too long. The hemline should be just an inch or so above your knees.

As for shoes, choose a design or style first. It obviously has to be golf shoes. Then you could check to see if they have that kind of style in your size. A very important factor before you go pay for it is the comfort. Make sure it is comfortable. If it is not, then you should look for another one. You will be standing and walking for a long time. Having comfortable shoes can help you with your stance and especially your game.

Accessories

Caps and sun visors are a great idea to add in your golfer's wardrobe. You can get as many as you want for as long as they complement your outfits. Umbrellas are a must, too.

Of course, if you intend to play and not just watch the game, you should have a golf bag for your clubs and everything else. Make sure the bag has a good stand and lots of pockets for gloves and pegs.
